The National Wildlife Conservation Park near Bristol will be the first conservation-led animal development of its kind in the UK - an exemplar for 21^st century sustainable zoos. In recognition of the special qualities of the landscape at the site, a landscape-led Masterplan by CBA has been developed that respects the historic and ecological values of the site, as well as providing an iconic, world-class visitor attraction. This combines an existing fun experience with education and the serious messages of conservation and environmental sustainability. CBA also coordinated the EIA for the successful planning application. It is anticipated that the Park will attract 600,000 visitors per year. In addition to the Visitor 'Village' and other facilities there will be a range of themed exhibits set within the rich landscape of the site, which put emphasis on immersive and interactive wildlife experiences. The project is championing and supporting national and international conservation and demonstrates and encourages widespread sustainability. It will be an iconic visitor attraction that actively engages visitors in a wide range of animal and plant conservation projects.
