Identifying the Development Impacts on Settings of Heritage Assets

Historic England commission CBA to recommend improvements to the process of understanding impacts on settings of heritage assets.

A prominent part of development management planning is the setting of heritage assets. This has become more so in recent years. In response, Historic England commissioned us to look at ways of identifying and expressing better the impacts on settings of heritage assets. We worked with many stakeholders, and reviewed extensive planning application material and decisions. We recommended improvements to the processes involved in understanding and visualising impacts on heritage assets. Our hope is that improvements will lead to better decision-making.
